Personal Insurance

Personal lines coverage in Jo Daviess County.

A working personal-lines policy in northwest Illinois has to handle the obvious things — your daily driver, your house, your teenager — and the not-so-obvious things, like the 1972 pickup that's still under cover in the barn, the spring-snowmelt water that occasionally backs up through the basement floor drain, and the liability question that comes up the year a teenager moves home from college with a friend's friend's dog.

We write three personal lines: auto, home, and personal umbrella. Across twelve carriers, with renewal shopping every year, we keep your overall premium honest while we keep the coverage where it needs to be. The right answer for one Galena household isn't the right answer for the next one — and we treat it that way.

Auto Insurance

Liability, comprehensive, collision, uninsured and underinsured motorist, medical payments, rental reimbursement, roadside assistance. The Illinois minimum is 25/50/20 and we will tell you in plain language why almost no household in Galena should carry the minimum.

For households with teen drivers we structure the policy so a teenager's mistake doesn't take the family premium with it. For classic cars we write with Hagerty on an agreed-value basis. For pickup-truck-and-sedan combos we shop Erie and Auto-Owners against Progressive every renewal.

Home Insurance

HO-3 and HO-5 dwelling coverage. We rebuild your home with replacement-cost endorsements, not actual-cash-value, and we make sure the policy limit actually matches what it would cost to rebuild in 2026 — which for many Galena homes is higher than the policy you bought ten years ago says.

Galena's old brick homes get written different than 1990s ranches in Stockton get written. Flood is quoted separately through the NFIP — we'll walk you through whether you need it. Water-backup and service-line endorsements are the two add-ons we recommend to almost everyone.

Personal Umbrella Liability

An umbrella policy sits on top of your auto and home liability limits and adds an extra $1M to $5M of protection. For most Galena households it costs between $180 and $320 a year — which is cheap protection for households with teen drivers, a swimming pool, a boat, a rental property, or any business income on the side.

An umbrella requires that you carry minimum underlying limits on your auto and home (typically 250/500/250 on auto, 300K on home). We will tell you whether you actually need one and, if you do, which of the twelve carriers will write it at the best rate.
